I was initially only going to purchase the new Josie Maran Bright Skin Vitamin C Serum, and I should have stuck with my gut feeling and only purchased that.  Instead, when I saw the Josie Maran Smooth Skin Resurfacing Serum next to the Vitamin C Serum, they looked so cute together and I purchase both.  I ended up enjoying the new Vitamin C Bright Skin Serum, but the Resurfacing Serum was a total let down.  The pH of the Smooth Skin Resurfacing Serum is far too high for any meaningful exfoliation to occur.  The pH test of the Josie Maran Smooth Skin Resurfacing Serum is around 6.5.  For Lactic Acid to exfoliate skin it needs the pH to be around 3.0-4.0  The Vitamin C Serum is a very hydrating serum.  It doesn’t seem to have a very high amount of vitamin c in it, and it will probably take weeks of use to notice any brightening from this serum.

I saw where Josie said the type of vitamin c she uses is the type we can absorb while other brands might have more vitamin C the type or quality isn't as absorbed or used in our skin. I'm not sure how true that it, but I know that is true with vitamin c supplements, most are from absorbic acid and our bodies are only actually getting a small portion if what is in these supplements. Just a thought. I was going to try this serum but I might not.

Hi there great review, even though you checked for the ph, in both products, I still think a 3 day period of product use that you mention, it's not enough time for you to give a rating on these products. For the simple fact that you didn't give enough time to actually give a review. Before you bash any product on utube, I think that you should give any skin care product at least 2 to 3 months top. This way you can really give an accurate review on it. Just putting it put there. Have a great day.

  • So what I was wondering in reference to the vitamin C serum is that since it's an oil should you put it on last? On that website it says to put it on before moisturizer but this concerns me as far as the moisturizer actually being able to penetrate after an oil. If anyone has any info on this help me out, thanks.

  • I’m so thankful for this information! I’m pretty new to watching you tube videos.. I’ve wasted a ton of money and time 🙈! I’m grateful for your reviews🌟!

  • Have you tried the Murad prebiotic cleanser? I love the texture but it is sooo expensive. I am looking for a dupe. It's like a non-foaming moisturising gel. Any thoughts?

I love using exfoliating acids. I actually have loved the Sunday Riley good genes and just recently the Farmacy honey moon glow. Which the Farmacy one did tingle quite a bit the first cpl of times which was that normal? I also don’t really get many Josie Maran products they just don’t speak to me. Could you do an updated top acids/exfoliates, Vitamin C serums, and Retinol products? Curious to see what’s changed. 😊😊

Thank you for reviewing this! I love all her other products and her spf, but I usually stick to another brand for active ingredients as I usually look to her products for soothing radiant hydration!

  • Cerave has a new vitamin c+hyaluronic acid serum it's on ulta.com would love to hear your thoughts on it. So far I'm loving it, very hydrating.

  • Thanks so much for the review!! These will be a pass for me!! I'm going to try the Murad peel. Hopefully, you can return and get your money back!!👍

Sounds like I will be sending back my Josie Maran Resurfacing Serum. I am going to try it tonight since I do have it. SARAH- SKINN has a SUPERB exfoliater- DERM APPEAL. I used it for the first time last night and by face still feels like the "tush of a baby".

  • OMG I've never heard of an exfoliating serum having a ph of 7! That's outrageous that they would say its a resurfacing serum! Owww this makes me so mad bc its probably not cheap and most people wouldn't think to do a ph test and they would just believe what the bottle says.

  • …aaaaaand, I try to suppress my Josie Maran products addiction…then I watch your JM serum review . Thanks for the ph test too…good to know. 🌼😊 (ps: I love the Argan Oil Light). It looks like I will probably pass on these two products though. Thanks for your review!

Fantastic review, and super helpful. I’m glad that you mentioned that so many people think that an acid, etc, should basically hurt to be effective which is totally untrue. Like you said, it may sting a little at first but not hurt or be to the point where you can barely stand it. Ohhh, I would love to see a Josie Maran “Top 5”.
    Thanks so much, beautiful🍃🌸

  • Oh no! I love Josie Maran's argan oil. A couple of drops really amp up an ordinary moisturizer. Doesn't break me out either. Thanks for the review.
